The 2014/2015 Premier League season is coming to a close and it’s time to look at how Everton’s current crop of players has performed over the season.

More from Everton FC News

Steven Nicholls had his own ratings for players and now it’s time for Editor James Reeve to join the fray and give his opinion on how Everton’s players have performed this season.

Only players that have made over 10 appearances in all competitions for the club will be rated. This is Part 1 of a two-part ‘series’.

Joel Robles – 7/10
Robles featured in 7 total Premier League matches this season while Tim Howard recovered from injury.

During this spell he performed well enough for fans to believe he would keep Howard out of the starting line-up when he returned.

Unfortunately this was not the case and Robles has been demoted back to the subs bench, waiting for his chance to grab the starting spot with both hands.

Leighton Baines – 7/10
After featuring for England in the 2014 World Cup, Baines had a slow start to the season. His pace appeared to disappear and his ability to set up goalscoring opportunities were few and far between.

Baines turned things around, however, and went on to be one of the team’s stars of the season, earning 9 assists this season.

Baines’ ability to send the ball into the box helped the team win a number of games, including their 3-0 drubbing of Manchester United.

Darron Gibson – 4/10
It’s been a difficult season for Gibson, who has spent most of the season injured.

As a result, he has only played 9 Premier League games for the Toffees and only 14 times in the entire season.

It is hoped that he will return to full fitness for next season and have a featured role in Roberto Martinez’ team.

Samuel Eto’o – 6/10
Eto’o arrived at Goodison Park last summer and many fans were hoping he would form a memorable partnership with Romelu Lukaku.

Unfortunately this did not come to fruition and Eto’o departed for Sampdoria in the January transfer window.

He did play 20 times for the Merseyside club and scored 4 goals, which is much better than Arouna Kone’s performance this season.

Phil Jagielka – 8/10
Everton’s captain had a slow start to the season, like most of the team, but he came through it to be one of Everton’s most reliable performers all season.

Jagielka’s strike against Liverpool will be remembered fondly by Everton fans but his strong partnership with John Stones has been one of the main reasons Everton were unbeaten throughout the month of April.

Aiden McGeady – 4/10
McGeady has had a difficult season, suffering through injuries all season.

He did manage to play for Everton 22 times and managed to score a goal but the emergence of Aaron Lennon during his loan spell could see fans wanting Martinez to get rid of McGeady and replace him with a healthier player such as Lennon.

Bryan Oviedo – 4/10
Oviedo is another one of Everton’s long-term injury concerns and has not been able to play to the level that Martinez had hoped he would this season.

Oviedo is still young at 25 and could still be Everton’s long-term answer at Left Back after Leighton Baines eventually leaves or retires.

Arouna Kone – 3/10
Kone has disappointed in his 2-year spell at Everton, scoring just one goal during this times.

He is now 31 years old and is clearly not the answer to Everton’s goal scoring problem, with Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas being the only players to score more than 10 goals this season.

Romelu Lukaku – 8/10
Lukaku may have had a slow start to the season, like the rest of the team, but he has been the team’s only consistent goal scorer, notching 20 goals in all competitions this season.

He needs to be given a reliable strike partner next season and if this happens, he could see his goal tally reach over 25.

Kevin Mirallas – 7/10
Mirallas suffered an injury during the season that saw him miss a number of games, giving him less opportunities to impress fans.

But he did impress fans, scoring over 10 goals this season to be just the second player on the team to achieve this.
