Everton’s dismal run of form continued on Sunday afternoon as they fell to a 2-1 loss to Swansea at Goodison Park, but how did the players fare individually?
Here are my player ratings.
Tim Howard – 5
John Stones may have sold him short for the opening goal, but the shotstopper still looked remarkably slow and indecisive when he got out to Andre Ayew. Yet another mistake to add to the already sizeable list.
Bryan Oviedo – 6
The Costa Rican has looked impressive filling in at right-back recently, but not so on Sunday.
He was uncertain defensively and struggled to make an impact in the final third.
John Stones – 4
The less said about John Stones’ display the better, quite frankly. An awful backpass for the first goal and an unwitting deflection for the second.
That paired with his general lack of authority all afternoon meant he had a game to forget.
Ramiro Funes Mori – 7
One of the only Everton players to escape the match with any credit – solid defensively and never looked unsure of himself despite the testing circumstances.
Leighton Baines – 6
The full-back lacked end product at times, but his energy and endeavour was admirable.
Gareth Barry – 7
He had a massive hand in the own goal and did well in the centre of the park – he did his job, it’s not his fault the rest of the team didn’t copy.
Muhamed Besic – 7
The Bosnian started the game really well before his desperately unfortunate injury and nearly netted from 20 yards when he struck the post with a low effort.

Gerard Deulofeu – 7
There was a sense that all the onus was on the wide man to drag his team back from the mire and he did everything in his power to do so with some wonderful crosses into the box – his deliveries deserved far more than they got.
Ross Barkley – 6
He didn’t perform badly, but how Ross Barkley was voted man of the match by the home fans is something of a mystery.
The midfielder was involved and never shied away from the action in a tense cauldron of nerves on Merseyside, but he struggled to make anything happen.
Kevin Mirallas – 6
The season has been a write-off for the Belgian hasn’t it?
He has waited patiently for a chance he should have been given long ago and then picks up an injury. When your luck isn’t in…..

Romelu Lukaku – 5
Arguably Lukaku’s worst performance of the campaign as he failed to throw his weight around, his movement looked sluggish and he rarely threatened the visitors’ goal.
Seamus Coleman – 6
The full-back was one of the Blues’ most potent threats when he came on, but he was guilty of two glaring misses as the Toffees chased a point.
Tom Cleverley – 6
The midfielder worked hard but offered very little with regards creativity going forward – a typical Tom Cleverley performance all in all.
Steven Pienaar – 6
The South African had a decent impact on the game when he came on compared to recent displays, but Roberto Martinez shouldn’t have to be relying on Pienaar in these circumstances given the squad he has at his disposal.
