Everton vs Chelsea Match Ratings
What a great win for Everton to progress into the Quater-Finals of the FA Cup and earn a trip to Wembley! The Toffees played great in the second half and were solid defensively all game. Here are the match ratings:
Joel Robles – 7
Robles was able to keep a clean sheet against an attacking Chelsea side although not too much was asked of him. He was good in the air getting his hands on crosses, but could have been better with his distribution.
Seamus Coleman – 7
Coleman was solid defensively today and was also a threat going forward. On multiple occasions per usual he was able to make great overlapping runs to support Lennon on the right and created a couple of chances off corners. He was good defending in the air today and helped keep the clean sheet.
Phil Jagielka – 7
Jagielka was solid in the back and did a great job a marking Costa throughout the game. He held the Spanish striker in check and did his job well.

Ramino Funes Mori – 7
Funes was great in the air today and almost had himself a goal on multiple occasions on crosses from set pieces. He was solid defensively and good on the ball.
Leighton Baines – 6
Baines, like the rest of the defense had a solid game defending against the likes of Diego Costa and Willian, but seemed to lack his usually attacking presence. Everton relied more on the counterattack today against Chelsea and this left Baines out of the picture going forward.
Tom Cleverly – 7
Cleverly was good in the left midfield role today and great when he tracked back to help on defense. His high work-rates prove to be essential to Everton’s success in defending and on multiple occasions, he tracked back and made great interceptions or tackles. On the other hand, he was not very impactful attacking down the left side as much of the play ran down the right.
Gareth Barry – 6
Barry was having a solid game until he made some carless plays late in the game that resulted in two yellows and an eventual red card. Although this did not hurt Everton, the challenge of Fabregas that resulted in his second yellow was stupid and his tackle on Costa was unnecessary.
James McCarthy – 7
McCarthy was great defensively today and really shut down a lot of the great attacking opportunities that Chelsea had. He was splendid in one-on-one defense and was good going forward.
Aaron Lennon – 7
Aaron Lennon has been on great form recently, and today ended up having a decent game. He provided pace and skill down the right-wing while also tracking back and having a major impact on defense. On a couple of occasions he could have been better with his crosses, but overall had a good game.
Ross Barkley – 7
Barkley did not have his best game today, but was still very impactful and was able to grab an assist on Lukaku’s second goal with a perfectly weighted through pass. Barkley was great with his passing and skill and was able to contribute defensively.
Romelu Lukaku – 9 MOTM
What a game for Romelu Lukaku! To start, he was great with his distribution and ability to bring the ball in all game, but also was able to bag two great goals. Lukaku propelled Everton to victory with his amazing solo goal in the 78th minute and then was able to finish the game with a great nutmeg goal from a Barkley though ball. Overall an amazing performance for the striker.
