Potential Managers to Replace Martinez

Frank de Boer

De Boer started his managerial career in 2010 with Ajax where he played for most of his playing career and shortly after, became very successful. He won the league title in his first season and then went on to win three more titles in the next three seasons making him the first manager to win four consecutive Eredivisie titles. He recently had his Ajax side finish second to PSV by losing the final game of the season after leading for the majority of the year. De Boer promptly quit his job at Ajax after the loss and is currently on looking for another position. His twin brother Ronald said that Frank is very interested in the Everton job, but it is Everton who is uncertain that they want Frank de Boer. He has been very successful throughout his managerial career, although he has only managed Ajax, a Dutch powerhouse and is not as premier league proven as other candidates. It would be a risk, but he knows what it takes to win and could potentially help Everton qualify for champions league.

Ronald Koeman

Everton would love to have Koeman if possible. He spends money well, he sells the right players at the right time and gets great results on the field. Everton have offered Koeman a deal and attempted to lure him in by promising him a £100 M spending spree for the summer to potentially bolster the squad but rumors have circulated that he desires to stay at Southampton and sign a new contract as his current contract only lasts until the end of the season.

Manuel Pellegrini

Pellegrini will be leaving Manchester City this summer as Pep Guardiola is set to take over in his place after a rough couple of seasons for City. Despite spending the most money this summer by a long shot and already having a great team, Manchester City finished fourth this season and barely qualified for Champions League football. He has overall had a very successful managerial career with Manchester City and many other clubs around the world although he has spent most of his time with la Liga teams including Real Madrid and Villarreal. He is a proven manager and would bring success to Everton, but on the other hand would be very expensive and possibly is not interested in a position at Everton after managing such a large club like Manchester City for years.

David Moyes

Moyes is very interested in returning to be manager of Everton after leaving for Manchester United three years ago. He was very successful in his time at Everton and transformed the club to be tough defensively and a competitive opponent for many larger clubs. He brought in many amazing talents to Everton including stars in the lineup today such as John Stones and Ross Barkley while also being wise with his spending and managing of Everton’s small budget. Of course things are different now, but Moyes would still be effective in implementing structure into the team and buying quality players.

In my opinion, I think that Everton should look to sign Koeman if the can, and if not, go for de Boer. Pellegrini would be too expensive and not a great fit and Moyes wouldn’t do much to move the club forward in a new direction. Koeman is ideal because he is premier league proven and very smart with his signings, just as previous Everton managers have been.
