Although the transfer window is now closed, Everton still have their sight potentially set on French forward Valere Germain for a possible summer move.

The Monaco striker has made 16 appearances in Ligue 1 and has already scored seven goals so far this season. The 26-year-old has been with Monaco since 2005.

Valere enjoyed his most prolific year on loan to Nice last season, where the striker scored 14 goals in 36 Ligue 1 appearances.

The scouting report

Germain has many strong attributes and could be a good depth player if Everton continue to pursue the Frenchman.

He’s good in the air, makes smart decisions and has an uncanny ability to find teammates under duress. He also tracks back and isn’t afraid to help out defensively, the forward known for some no-nonsense tackles.

An important attribute for any striker, Germain holds the ball up well, offering his team a chance to progress up the pitch. His ability to hold off defenders also allows his teammates to find space, while providing his defenders with a moment of respite.

Germain lacks a bit of quality when it comes to his crosses, which is the forward’s one glaring downfall. Overall the Frenchman looks suited for the Premier League, as his 180cm frame is the perfect size for a striker in England’s top flight.

Transfer window closed

There is, of course, no chance this deal will be made until the summer now, as the transfer window is officially closed. But Ronald Koeman and company still have their eyes on many potential Everton suitors.
