Everton are making it a priority to try and swoop in and bring Manchester City’s highly touted young center back Tosin Adarabioyo to Goodison.

And what a great signing it would be.

Adarabioyo is 19 years old and has only six months left on his current contract with City. Contract talks have stalled as the young center back most likely doubts whether City will be able to offer him the chance of first-team football he so badly desires.

Lucky for him, Everton are in need of a youth, especially in the heart of defence.

Adarabioyo might not slide directly into the first team but the chances are far more likely of quick progression at Goodison. With Phil Jagielka coming to the end of his reign, and lingering doubts whether Ramiro Funes Mori is a viable first-choice center back for the long-term, the door remains well and truly open for Adarabioyo.

The young Mancunian was brought up in the City fold and made his debut for the Under 18s team at just 14 years old.

Standing at 6ft 5in, Adarabioyo is a towering presence and has the kind of physical prowess Premier League teams dream of. Give this young man a few years to gain some more muscle mass and he’ll be an unstoppable physical force.

A potential future Adarabioyo/Mason Holgate center back partnership is a mouth-watering proposition. He’s just the type of player Ronald Koeman could develop into a perennial Premier League player.

Adarabioyo has all the attributes to someday lead Everton to the promise land. With a few more years experience, Adarabioyo should, under Koeman’s guidance, develop into a bona fide top-five Premier League center back.

There are other interested parties – Tottenham, Leicester and Celtic – which you’d expect for a player of this limitless potential.

But reports suggest that Everton are in pole position to land the young prospect. Landing him would be another step in the right direction, as Everton look to narrow the gap between them and the Premier League’s top six clubs.

This signing would shrink that gap in a real hurry.
