It’s been confirmed that the out-of-favor winger will make his way to AC Milan for a loan spell.

The writing was on the wall for Gerard Deulofeu, as the Spanish winger found himself struggling to get any considerable first-team action with Everton during Ronald Koeman’s time at the helm.

It’s great news for Deulofeu, who struggled dearly to make his way onto Koeman’s team sheet. He has made only four starts for Everton this season and hasn’t featured since early December.

The 22-year-old will be able to showcase his talent more easily with the former Italian giants.

If he plays well enough, it may signify a possible return to Goodison at the end of the season. Then again, AC Milan will try their best to make it a permanent deal if things go according to plan for the Rossoneri.

Deulofeu is still only 22 and he has the talent and potential to make an impact in Seire A, especially considering how the game is played in Italy. A less physical style of play will suit Deulofeu perfectly. He’ll have a bit more time on the ball and be able to use his creativity more than dogged Premier League opposition permitted.

Koeman added his two cents about the player’s need for a move.

“I spoke to ‘Geri’ and it’s a difficult situation for the player,” the Dutchman said. “If he finds a solution to go and to play and to get game time then it’s not a problem.

“You have to always look for first what’s the best for the club and second what is the best for the player, and for ‘Geri’ the best thing is that he gets game time somewhere.”

Deulofeu failed to make an impact at Goodison the way people thought he would but Milan could be the perfect place to revitalize his career. For now, though, I think it’s a bit farfetched to think we’ll see the young winger back as an Everton player anytime soon.
