Does Everton have a chance at Genk forward Leon Bailey?
By Gary Pearson
I bet you’re not surprised that Ronald Koeman has his eye on yet another young striker, this time reports linking Genk forward Leon Bailey to the greener pastures of Goodison.
Koeman is injecting as much youth into his squad as humanly possible. He saw the need to have more youth in his team and is doing his utmost to balance the young-to-old ratio.
Leon Bailey scouting report
So, what do we know about the young lad?
He’s certainly equipped with the skills to make a lot of defenders miss tackles or commit pre-maturely. Bailey loves the ball at his feet and isn’t afraid to take defenders on. He’s got an abundance of confidence and strikes the ball fairly well, too.
He’s got pace to burn and can doesn’t prefer one foot over the other.
Bailey is small and nimble. He has a similar physique to Ademola Lookman, one of Everton’s new signings. The similarities don’t stop there as both players are 19 years old.
Take a look for yourself. Some of these highlights are quite impressive.
The Jamaican striker joined Genk in 2015, before which he spent two-year stints with Trencin and FC Leifering. He’s only 19 years old and has a bright future ahead of him. The only question is whether it will be with the Toffees.
Bayer Leverkusen are the prime candidates to win over Bailey, with manager Roger Schmidt confirming the Bundesliga club’s interest in the winger.

The potential move has come from whispers but there is a chance Koeman may entice the youngster to Merseyside. That, however, depends on whether Bailey will turn down an almost-guaranteed offer from Leverkusen, where he has previously expressed interest.
We’ll keep our eyes on this situation for any further developments.
