Wolfsburg winger Anton Donkor could be set for Everton loan spell
By Gary Pearson
Yet another 19-year-old has sprung up on the Everton transfer rumour mill, but this time a deal is close, as Anton Donkor is set for a loan spell with the Toffees.
The Birmingham Mail has reported that the Aston Villa target has slipped away from the Championship side, with Everton swooping in at the death.
Ronald Koeman has already brought in Ademola Lookman, but the gaffer doesn’t look like he’s content with just one new 19-year-old forward. Everton have been linked with a couple of other 19 year old’s, including Lille forward Martin Terrier and Genk’s Leon Bailey.
Donkor has been at Wolfsburg since 2013, but is yet to make a first-team appearance. However, the youngster is highly touted and has shown what he’s made of in Germany’s youth ranks.
The loan would see the German come to Merseyside until the end of the season, at least. Wolfsburg have made it clear that they’re unable to offer Donkor a spot on the first team, opening up a path to England.
Aston Villa were reportedly on the verge of signing the dynamic youth. Goodison, though, is a much more appealing prospect for a player of his age and potential.

He enjoyed a good season with the Under-19 Wolfsburg team in 2015/16, the winger scoring 14 goals during that campaign. He’s the kind of player Koeman loves. Donkor plays physically, works hard, tracks back and plays with a high tempo Germans are renowned for.
Sounds like the perfect youngster for the Ducthman’s relentless press.
Everton don’t play again in the Premier League until February 1, when the Toffees travel to Stoke. That gives the Toffees enough time to make a deal or two before they next take to the pitch.
If the reports are anything to go by, Donkor could be on his way to Merseyside in short succession.
