Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic is back in training as his return to side is fast approaching, yet another boost to Ronald Koeman’s ever strengthening side.

Besic hasn’t appeared so far this season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered during Wayne Rooney’s testimonial. It’s the kind of injury the keeps a player out for between six and eight months. It’s often a devastating injury, both physically and mentally, that requires a committed rehab regime to get back to full strength.

Besic has been out of the lineup for about five and a half months and is chomping at the bit to get back into Everton’s team.

The rough-and-tumble 24-year-old midfield has maintained an upbeat attitude during some of the darkest times a player has to endure. These type of serious, career-threatening injuries can often derail a player’s career completely.

But you don’t get that feeling with Besic, who, if he recovers fully and doesn’t suffer any setbacks, can still have a long and fruitful career ahead of him. He’s still young and the German, who has been with Everton since 2014, has the determination, discipline and disposition to thrive at the top level once more.

Besic shows his belief in a tweet from December, when he tweeted that a return could be imminent.

He will, however, have to show the commitment and discipline his rehab has required to get back into the first team, especially as Everton’s midfield is chockfull of quality, particularly in the center of the park.
