The gap between 7th and 8th position is a significant gap this season, Everton are the only club in the Premier League who have demonstrated a sincere pursuit of the top 6. To do so in such a competitive season with some outrageous goal difference variation shows the talent at Everton, which has not gone unnoticed. Will Everton be raided this summer?
Romelu Lukaku has been linked with moves away from Everton since the day he signed. Clearly Lukaku is a player destined to join the elite clubs and play in Europe, and now that he has helped Everton to earn Europa League football for the second time since he joined 4 seasons ago, the interest is larger than ever.
Though Mouriniho was the manager who sold him during his tenure at Chelsea, Manchester United are reported to be interested in signing Lukaku for a record-breaking £100 million fee. There is no doubt that United have the funds to secure the deal, but would they spend so big again after breaking the transfer fee record this season when signing Pogba? I’m not so sure, but what I am sure of is Raiola will push for this move if there is even a slight chance of it happening.
After a brilliant introduction this season, Tom Davies is being lauded by the media as the next big thing. To be so composed and talented at such a young age would always attract attention, so expect to see some serious interest in him soon.
Another young talent who has been heavily linked with a move away from Everton in the summer is fan favourite, Gerrard Deulofeu. There have been rumours that he will rejoin his dream club, Barcelona, after they choose to activate a clause in his contract which allows them priority over other clubs who hope to buy him.
It’s a good problem to have, at least Kone will get a few games.
Should European giants from England and the continent come knocking to buy Everton’s talent, I’m unsure if we will be able to keep those we desperately need. I’m certain Moshiri will within reason, do everything in his power to keep our starters. If they do choose to leave, then Everton may be spending bigger than anticipated in the coming transfer windows.
