Next season will finally bring Everton fans a chance to truly criticise new additions, Ronald Koeman and Steve Walsh. You cannot make an informed judgement based off one season, especially not the first season. Now that Walsh has laid his scouting foundations for the aims of Everton Football Club, we will see if Koeman gets what he wants, then we will see if Koeman can actualise his vision.

Steve Walsh was hired last summer to be heavily involved in Everton, after seeing how he was a large factor in the fairy tale success of Leicester City last season. His 3 signings in Vardy, Mahrez and Kante would be crucial in Leicester becoming English Champions, and so Everton secured him in the hopes he can do similar work.

Perhaps he already has, Vardy didn’t make an immediate impact, as is usually the way with new signings. In Ademola Lookman we could possibly have the future of English Football, the general feel from within the club is that he is extremely talented, though he still has a long way to go before he convinces me. Alas, one signing will not be enough, after spending his first year here learning about Everton and the direction we are headed, he will know what we want. The question is, will he be able to deliver? My guess is that he will succeed.

Koeman is heavily involved in signings too, he lets the board and Walsh know the styles of football he will want to play, then it is the club’s responsibility to get him what he wants and see if he can match the expectations of Everton.

Never place sincere critique on a manager’s first season *cough* Martinez *cough*

One thing I like about Koeman is he will not settle. In January he was a factor in the signing of Belfodil not happening, due to feeling like he would not be the right fit for the club. In the summer he will certainly get what he wants, meaning the pressure will be solely his to carry. With everything he has asked for, will he give Everton the success we all envisioned? Again, my guess is that he will succeed.
