After large speculation about the departure of Romelu Lukaku this season, the fact that he is still yet to sign a new contract suggests there’s a good chance he will be leaving Everton within the next two seasons. No team would reject him, but certain teams are pursuing him harder than others.
When Lukaku left Chelsea to come to Everton under Roberto Martinez, in the hope of some actual game time, it was Mourinho who decided to ultimately let the young Belgian go. Mourinho expressed his issues with Lukaku during his time at Chelsea, making the point that Lukaku can make too much noise in the press with his interviews, which Evertonians know all too well.
Up until this season before Moshiri appears to have silenced Raiola, Lukaku was notorious for talking about possible moves away to a bigger club, and sharing his views about the failings of his club. This was the reason Mouriniho let him go, as this type of behaviour will be certain to cause issues in the dressing room.
Up until this season I always thought that should Lukaku leave, it would never be to a Mourinho side, due to the past minor trouble between the two; enough to keep them seperared, despite their combined talent. When Lukaku left Chelsea, it was much to the dismay of the fans who desperately wanted to see how their talented youngster would develop. So maybe this time around, Mourinho will be more likely to give fans what they want, only this time the fans are from Manchester.

With interest from the European clubs drying up for Lukaku, as they all settle after finding their respective strikers, the most likely candidates to purchase Lukaku from Everton will be one of the English clubs. Manchester United and Chelsea have consistently been linked with him over the last 2 seasons, but I’d rather him go to Chelsea. I don’t think Everton will be catching either club, but Chelsea have been consistently the better team in recent seasons, so to give Lukaku to the lower end of the top Premier League clubs would be a bad option. Also, if Lukaku goes to Chelsea, then there’s more chance that we will outbid them on Koulibaly should we both enter a bidding war for the Napoli centreback.
