Everton: Kevin Sheedy calls time at Goodison Park
By Paul Taylor
All-time Everton legend Kevin Sheedy is leaving his coaching position at the club, ending a relationship which goes back 35 years.
Kevin Sheedy has decided to say goodbye to Everton, after a love affair which dates all the way back to 1982. As reported by the Echo‘s Greg O’Keeffe and Chris Beesley, he is leaving his coaching position with the club.
Sheedy has already informed the staff at Finch Farm about his departure. The Echo went on to advise the reasons for his exit are currently unknown.
In truth, the 57-year old’s departure comes as a surprise, after a successful 11-year spell coaching different age groups in Everton’s youth setup. His most recent role saw him in charge of the Under-18s team.

Sheedy was responsible for bringing players such as Ross Barkley and Ross Davies through to the senior side. As noted by the Independent, he led several teams to silverware, including the Premier Academy League in 2014 and the Dallas Cup in 2016.
The former Republic of Ireland international is one of the most popular figures in Everton history, after playing for them between 1982-92. With his deadly left foot and free kick skills, he won two league titles, one FA Cup and the 1985 European Cup Winners’ Cup during that time.
Sheedy also provided inspiration away from football, after being diagnosed with bowl cancer in 2012. He made a successful recovery after undergoing surgery and returned to his coaching role at Everton.
Understandably, the former Tranmere Rovers caretaker manager will be missed by the club and fans alike. We wish him all the best in his post-Everton life.
