Everton have brought Anton Donkor back for a second loan spell and the youngster is aiming to show he can be an important part of the Under-23s side.

Everton‘s Under-23s team will be aiming to continue the success they enjoyed last season, when they won the Premier League 2 title. And if Anton Donkor has his way, he will be looking to be an integral part of the team.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Donkor is returning to Everton for a second loan spell from Wolfsburg. The deal has initially been agreed until January 2, 2018.

The 19-year old’s biggest motivation will come from proving the Blues have made the right decision in re-signing him. The 2016/17 campaign was extremely frustrating for him, after suffering an ankle injury in just his third game for the Under-23s, which prematurely cut short his first loan spell.

Donkor is happy to be back at Goodison Park and ready to build on his brief stay last season. Speaking to evertonfc.com, he said:

"“I started very well here last season but the ankle injury was a big disappointment. I was out for about eight weeks and I had to go back to Germany and do all my treatment. But I got fit again quickly and now I’m feeling better than before. I’m feeling at 100 per cent.”"

One of the main ways Donkor will be able to help David Unsworth’s side, is with his versatility. Although he is mainly deployed as a left winger, he is also capable of playing as a centre forward.

The German-born youngster has already spent the first week of pre-season training with the Under-23s, at Finch Farm. And even though he’s found the early going tough, he’s enjoying himself:

"“After six weeks I hadn’t played football, but I was very happy to be back out on the pitch. David Unsworth is a great guy and I enjoy training with him. He has a good style of coaching.”"

Donkor won’t have to wait long to get an opportunity to impress Unsworth on the pitch. The Under-23s team play their first-preseason friendly on Saturday afternoon, away to Flint.
