Everton fans have reason to cheer, as Yannick Bolasie returns to the pitch to continue his rehab from the nasty knee injury he suffered towards the end of 2016.

Even with two consecutive wins, it remains to be seen if Everton are back on track after their recent run of four straight defeats. Regardless, fans were given more reason for optimism on Tuesday morning:

We think most Evertonians agree seeing Yannick Bolasie back on the pitch, was a sight for sore eyes. It has been nearly a year, since he suffered a nasty knee injury, while facing Manchester United.

After limping out of the game, it was confirmed Bolasie had ruptured the anterior cruciate in his right knee. As reported at the time by Paul Joyce of The Times, he was ruled out for the remainder of the 2016/17 campaign.

Rehabilitation was projected to take anywhere between nine and 12 months. We recently reported on how the 28-year-old has vowed to return to the Everton first team, before the end of 2017.

While this may or may not happen, it is still good to see Bolasie resume light training. He is likely still some way off playing again, but at least he is making impressive progress, as detailed by Royal Blue Mersey.

Certainly, whenever the French-born player does return to action, it will provide a significant boost for the Blues. The winger is renowned for his pace, which is something manager Ronald Koeman is desperately missing in the side right now.

Signed for a reported fee of £25 million, Bolasie was enjoying an excellent debut season prior to his injury. He settled in quickly, scoring once and adding four assists in 13 Premier League games.
