Everton: Which way did fans vote on Brexit?

Fan site AskFans.co.uk polled Premier League supporters, to see if they voted to leave or remain in the EU. Find out which way the majority of Everton fans voted.

We appreciate the last thing Everton fans are expecting to find on Prince Rupert’s Tower, is an article related to anything political. After all, this is a sports website which is meant to offer entertainment, light reading and even some form of escapism from the real world.

However, we hope you will allow us this rare exception, in light of an interesting article written by The Mirror‘s Mikey Smith. It relates to last year’s vote, to decide whether to leave or remain in the EU.

As noted by Smith, a poll was carried out by fan site AskFans.co.uk, asking Premier League supporters if they were in favour of Brexit. Before we go any further though, the survey only asked 4,680 people, so please bare this in mind when considering the results of the poll.

If you’re still reading this article, you will presumably want to know which way Everton fans voted. Interestingly, Evertonians were second most likely to have voted for Brexit, at 57 percent.

The only set of supporters who finished with a higher percentage were Chelsea, with 61 percent of fans in favour of leaving the EU. Just behind the Blues in third place, were Tottenham Hotspur.

(They often say that sport reflects society. However, we realise the chances of a similar placing for Everton at the end of the 2017/18 Premier League season is pretty unlikely!)

The way Everton fans voted becomes even more intriguing, when you consider their cross-city rivals. As Smith writes, Liverpool supporters were apparently second most likely to vote to remain, with a whopping 77 percent.

Brighton And Hove Albion had the most fans voting to remain, with 81 percent. Again though, all the results shared in this article only account for the opinions of just under 4,700 people, so keep this in mind if you decide to offer an opinion, rant, disagreement, etc!
