We rate every Everton player’s performance from Sunday’s disappointing 1-0 loss to a solid Burnley side, at Goodison Park.

If you wanted to pick a number which stood out on Sunday for Everton fans, you could go with 21, as in the minute Burnley scored. Or maybe 13 which, apart from being unlucky for the Blues, represented the shirt number of goal scorer Jeff Hendrick.

However, the number we would like to choose is 23. As in how many passes the Clarets strung together for the only goal of the game.

In theory, there is no shame in losing to Burnely this season, who have now started a top flight campaign with four unbeaten away games for the first time since 1966. They won at champions Chelsea on opening day and have since drawn away to Spurs and Liverpool.

However, this doesn’t change the fact Everton is a team filled with talented individuals, who should be doing a heck of a lot better. Actually, “individuals” is an appropriate word, given the main thing they’re not doing — unlike Burnley — is playing together as a team.

At least this time, Ronald Koeman decided to take a different approach with his review of the match, after previously calling his players scared. As reported by The Telegraph‘s Chris Bascombe, Koeman said:

"“They did everything. There are situations in our ball possession that maybe we can create more but it is not so easy against Burnley. They are a defensive minded team but well organised, physical. You need to be lucky in second balls, maybe everything. The commitment and spirit of the players was really positive.”"

Unfortunately, the fact is the Blues have now lost four times in just seven league games. Let’s get to the player ratings:
