Yannick Bolasie can’t wait to prove his worth to Everton and their fans, but admits he is still some way off from returning to action.
Yannick Bolasie is a man in a hurry. In a hurry to recover from his long-standing injury, in a hurry to resume playing and in a hurry to prove his worth to Everton and their fans.
Signed from Crystal Palace for a reported fee of £25 million, things started off so well for Bolasie at Everton. He settled in quickly and provided a boost to the side, scoring once and adding four assists in 13 Premier League games.
Unfortunately for the player and team alike, 13 once again proved unlucky for someone. It was in that 13th league game, when the 28-year-old suffered a serious knee injury.
The injury was so bad, Bolasie was ruled out for the remainder of the 2016/17 campaign. In fact, the prognosis was he would be out for at least 12 months.

It’s a testament to the winger’s character, that he refused to be demoralised by the devastating injury. In fact, he vowed to return to action before the end of this year.
Certainly, there have been some positive steps recently. Just last week, Bolasie took to Twitter, to show he has resumed light training.
Part of what motivates the Democratic Republic of the Congo international, is his determination to repay the loyalty shown by Everton fans. As reported by Carl Markham of the Daily Post, he said:
"“The fans… have always been on my side since I’ve been injured. Now I’m looking forward to coming back and showing them what I really can do.“I believe they’ve seen a side of me at Crystal Palace and I’m sure I can provide that side but even better.”"
Of course, this leads to the question of when Bolasie will actually return to action. There’s little denying the Blues could use the pace he offers.
In this respect, Evertonains shouldn’t get too excited just yet, even though the French-born player remains extremely positive. Bolasie said:
"“There’s still a while to go, but I’m happy with where I’m at. At this stage, I couldn’t ask to be in a better place and everything just seems like it’s clicking into place.”"
