Ronald Koeman remains confident in his managerial abilities to turn around the fortunes of Everton and succeed at Goodison Park.

Ronald Koeman has come under increasing pressure recently, with Everton struggling to find any semblance of consistency, particularly in the Premier League. The media and fans alike are speculating on his potential replacement and he’s even received the dreaded vote of confidence!

Just 16 months ago, Koeman was hailed as the man who would return Everton to their former glories. Now, he’s perceived as someone who has issues with his tactics, doesn’t know how to pick a team and struggles to motivate his players.

The pressure reached a new high, following the Blues’ disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Burnley. It fairness, the performances wasn’t terrible, but the result was indicative of the campaign to date.

To his credit, the 54-year-old won’t shirk from the limelight. Instead, he will stand up to any criticism or pressure, refusing to walk away from the current problems.

Koeman wrote as much, in a column published by Dutch media outlet, De Telegraaf. As reported by The Mirror‘s Liam Prenderville, the article said:

"“Everyone is entitled to their opinion but as a coach, I don’t run away from criticism. We know that we our not playing at our normal level and the results should be better.“…I am calm and will will work with my staff to get those results. I am exactly the same coach as when it was going well.”"

We’ve already gone on record as saying we believe Koeman does deserve more time to get things right. Apart from the fact he hasn’t been in the job that long, this is still the same man who led Everton to seventh place last season and recently guided them to the group stage of the Europa League.

Having said that, it’s tough to dispute October could prove to be a pivotal month for the former Dutch international. They have three league games to play, including tough fixtures against Arsenal and Leicester City.

The Blues will also face Lyon in Europe and Chelsea in the League Cup. If they are still struggling in the Premier League, remain bottom of their Europa League group and get knocked out of cup play, Koeman’s position could become untenable.

Certainly, it’s going to be an interesting few weeks on Merseyside, starting with next Sunday’s trip to Brighton. Let’s find out if Koeman can justify his confidence in his managerial abilities.
