Everton not giving up on Marco Silva just yet

Everton are reportedly preparing to make a second approach for Marco Silva, despite Watford rejecting their initial request to speak with the 40-year-old.
Sam Allardyce will not become the next Everton manager, citing their indecision as one of the main reasons for ending his interest. It’s probably for the best anyway, as no one really envisioned Allardyce as a long-term solution at Goodison Park.
As a result, the Blues have now turned their attention to someone else. Or more specifically, back to someone else.
As reported by the Echo‘s Phil Kirkbride, the Toffees are preparing to make a second approach for Marco Silva. This is a bold move, given that Watford firmly rejected the initial request to speak with their manager.
The Blues’ interest in Silva is entirely understandable. Watford are off to a fantastic start this season and currently sit in ninth place in the Premier League.
As per a report from Chris Mckenna of the Daily Star, the Hornets previously turned down a compensation package worth more than £8.5 million. Silva is only six months into the two-year deal he signed with Watford towards the end of May.

With Watford claiming the Portuguese native will not be allowed to leave at any price, why would the Blues make a second approach for him? Apart from testing the Hornet’s resolve, it also comes down to the manager himself.
Speculation is rife that Silva is extremely interested in the Everton job. However, as noted by Kirkbride, it is understood he will not try to force a move, given how little time he has been at Vicarage Road.
From Watford’s perspective, why would they allow the former Hull City manger to leave, after narrowly avoided relegation last season under previous manager, Walter Mazzarri? With the money that comes from staying in the Premier League, the club will do everything possible to avoid putting themselves in a similarly stressful situation again.
We don’t blame Everton for making a second request to speak to Silva. However, the chances are they’re wasting their time and would be better-served looking elsewhere.
