Everton are reportedly interested in Leicester City’s young prospect Josh Eppiah, but would they be better-served considering other options to resolve their striking woes?

Everton need more striking options up front. They also want to continue strengthening one of the best youth setups in the country.

As such, the latest speculation should come as no surprise to Evertonians. According to ESPN FC‘s Peter O’Rourke, the Blues are one of a number of clubs tracking Leicester City’s Josh Eppiah.

Eppiah is regarded as one of the best young prospects to emerge at the Foxes in recent years. As such, it makes sense why there would be so much interest in him.

O’Rourke writes that other Premier League teams interested in the forward, include West Ham United, Stoke City and Bournemouth. Referencing sources close to the player, he goes on to add Championship sides Leeds and Wolves.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

Returning to Everton specifically, they theoretically would have at least some semblance of an inside track on competing clubs hoping to sign Eppiah. This is due to Craig Shakespeare.

Sam Allardyce’s new assistant is a big fan of the Belgium U19 international, from his time with Leicester City. O’Rourke notes that when Shakespeare was the Foxes’ manager, he used to regularly include the youngster in first team training.

As such, even though Eppiah has yet to play for the first team, any approach for him can be made with confidence. Interestingly, Everton got an up-close look at him recently in the Premier League Cup, as he scored the winner for the Foxes’ U23 side.

After seeing Eppiah advance through their academy and being so close to the first team, you can appreciate why Leicester City would hate to lose him now. However, it sounds like they are going to have to prepare for any number of clubs to make an approach.
