Blues eyeing one of country’s top young midfielders
By Paul Taylor
Everton are reportedly one of a number of clubs interested in one of the most in-demand young prospects in the country.
One of the most impressive things about Everton is they always have one eye on the future. You only need to look at the quality of their youth setup, for proof of this.
As such, the latest speculation makes perfect sense. According to the Echo‘s Phil Kirkbride, Everton are lining up a swoop for Blackburn Rover’s midfielder Callum Wright.
Wright is considered one of the top young prospects in the country. As such, the Blues are keen to add him to an already impressive under-23s team.
If Wright sounds familiar, it’s because he was previously with Everton. However, the Blues released the youngster when he was 13.

The Blues can expect considerable competition for the services of the talented 17-year-old. As Kirkbridge notes, the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Stoke City have also registered their interest.
Wright mostly plays in central midfielder. However, his versatility means he can also line up at full back and further up the pitch.
Renowned for his work ethic, Wright has been an integral part of Blackburn’s Premier League 2 campaign, which sees them sit in second place in Group 2. He has scored three goals and added one assist in nine games, to aid their challenge to gain promotion to the top tier.
In theory, Everton should have the inside track on a player they are familiar with. However, it remains to be seen if the Liverpool-born youngster actually wants to return home.
