As Everton stuttered to a 1-1 draw with Swansea in their latest Premier League outing this weekend there are more rumours swirling around concerning the Blues.

Manager Sam Allardyce is central to these rumours. He is apparently already planning for the summer and perhaps who he wants Everton to look at signing.

It’s interesting to note that Allardyce is still making such plans; it seems to indicate that he is still confident of being Blues boss through the summer and into next season.

There have been numerous possible other candidates mentioned over the past few weeks. But it just may be that the board at Everton will decide to stick with Big Sam, especially if they can’t get their latest first choice replacement (although I don’t think anyone is actually sure who that is!?).

Allardyce has also been taking again about his relationship with Wayne Rooney, which has been subject to some speculation recently. This all comes after last weekend’s derby game when Rooney was hauled off in the second half much to his annoyance.

It certainly seems that Rooney’s relationship with the manager is under some strain but given all the uncertainty around players and manager, its possible neither will be at Everton come next season.

However the manager did appear to be trying to heal any possible rift by singling out Rooney for praise after the Swansea game. Frankly it didn’t seem that any of the Blues players deserved much praise after another lacklustre and underwhelming performance.

Anyway sticking with Big Sam and in total contradiction to his own confidence in his position, the Mirror are reporting Everton will be getting together with the notorious ‘super-agent’, Mino Raiola.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

This is so he can take part in an overhaul the way the club recruits players and managers and this move will spell the end of Allardyce’s short reign and that of Steve Walsh, the club’s Director of Football.

As I’ve said before although I’m not a fan of Sam, I do think he’s become a little bit of a convenient scapegoat for all the team’s woes. After all everyone knows what Allardyce offers and yet again he’s delivered, namely ensuring that Everton are safe from relegation.

If you are looking for flamboyant, attacking football he’s not your man and to be fair to him has never pretended to be that kind of manager.

But although he’s not the long-term answer, the constant rumours and upheavals at Everton are not helpful to confidence and creating a winning mentality. Get a young progressive coach in, stick with him and back him to deliver success.

Next: Everton escape with a point

Finally there are rumours that the Blues may be looking at a 16-year-old French player Kamal Bafounta. According to L’Equipe in France the Blues are tracking this youngster at the moment. Probably nothing in it, we’ll see again come the summer.
