More Everton manager/player speculation
As if Everton have not been linked with enough potential new managers, the latest story to surface in the Metro has the Blues targeting the former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira to take the Goodison hotseat.
Vieira is currently the boss of Manchester City’s American MLS franchise New York City. He has enjoyed a reasonably successful time over there and is considered a promising young coach. Everton might be his next job.
Recently he has been linked with a return to the Premier League most notably back to Arsenal with Arsene Wengers’ departure now confirmed.
However it now appears that Everton are considering bringing the former French international back to English football. This comes after more rumours about Marco Silva last week.
It seems that the Toffees are linked with virtually any manager who might be available and these rumours place manager Sam Allardyce in an almost impossible position.
He knows that the majority of fans want him out. And after apparently having talks with majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, which he claimed were really positive, now further stories about another successor surface.
Vieira would represent something of a gamble given he has no Premier League experience but he is certainly a big name in football and might well be able to attract players to Goodison Park.

But yet again it smacks of a lack of foresight and strategy at the club. Everton seem to be simply searching for one big name coach after another without really knowing why.
In other player transfer news, the Blues have also supposedly shown interest in a Brazilian midfielder Fernando, (they all seem to be called some variation of this!), who plays for Spartak Moscow.
The same paper, the Metro, is reporting that the Toffees are one of three English clubs interested in the player.
Frankly I don’t know much about this midfielder and he doesn’t even rank in the top 50 Russian Premier League players according to Squawka.
Next: More possible Blues' transfer options?
In any case I doubt there is much in this particular rumour. Everton should surely concentrate on more established players when it comes to their summer recruitment plans.
