As new Director of Football Marcel Brands is due to start his new job at the beginning of June, we look at players he might bring to Everton from his former club PSV Eindhoven and other Dutch clubs.

One player who could fill a problem position for Everton is defender Joshua Brenet. The 24-year-old is a versatile player who can play left or right back.

Everton need a long-term replacement for Leighton Baines at left-back and Brenet could be a good option.

He created 4 assists and had a very good passing accuracy of 80% indicating he can use the ball effectively and without often conceding possession.

He is also a solid defender making over two tackles and two clearances per game on average.

Another youngster who has impressed this season for the Dutch champions is Marco van Ginkel. The midfielder has scored 16 goals and made another 4 from the middle of the park.

Importantly van Ginkel also manages over 2 shots per game himself, which is an area where Everton were very weak last season.

The Blues need to increase their number of shots per game and van Ginkel can help with that.

While he is obviously a very attacking player he is also solid defensively too, an additional bonus.

The final PSV player to look at is the forward Luuk de Jong. He scored 15 goals last season playing in a striking position. And de Jong also added 5 assists as well.

Another of his strengths is his ability in the air, he won plenty of aerial battles last season.

What about other players in the Eridivisie that Brands might consider bringing to Everton?

We’ve already looked at two players who also might be on his radar, another from PSV Hirving Lozano and Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech.

One other player worth mentioning is the AZ Alkmaar forward Alizera Jahanbakhsh. The Iranian international racked up an impressive 22 goals for his side.

He is very strong passing, dribbling and shooting. Jahanbakhsh also averages over 4 shots per game, which of course partly explains his goal total. He scored a goal after every 7 shots.

Next: Arteta for Blues boss?

All this is obviously pure speculation but it will be instructive to see if Brands does raid his former club and league for talent that will grace Goodison Park next season.
