With the World Cup in full swing, one transfer story has been bubbling along and occasionally re-surfaces. This is the rumour that Ajax’s Justin Kluivert might come to Everton this summer.

The Metro reported on this one a few days ago in the latest version of this story affecting Everton.

According to the paper this is because Kluivert’s agent has fallen out with Manchester United, who were favourites to sign the young Dutch forward.

Apparently the so -called ‘super agent’ Mino Raiola, is unhappy with what has happened to some of the players he represents at United.

In particular the departures of Zlatan Ibrimanovic and Henrik Mkhitaryan last season and Romelu Lukaku switching to another agent. So Raiola is prepared to offer Kluivert to Everton.

Another factor that might give more weight to this rumour is that Everton have been working closely with Raiola. The Mirror has claimed recently that the club is looking to Raiola to help secure new talent.

Kluivert is certainly a highly regarded young player who has recently established himself in the Ajax first-team. Last term he played 27 times for the Amsterdam club scoring 11 goals and creating five assists.

According to the statistics, Kluivert’s best position is playing on the left hand side of the attack. There he scored 9 goals and added four assists.

As we’ve said before this is an area of the team where Everton certainly need to improve. Especially as it’s likely last year’s signing Henry Onyekuru won’t be available next season.

There might be another aspect to this story as the Blues Dutch Director of Football, Marcel Brands, is sure to know Kluivert well.

Of course this is yet another story about possible new signings for Everton that we have to wait and see on.

Finally more news about the Rooney saga – will he or won’t he stay at Goodison Park?

The Daily Mail are reporting that Boss Marco Silva is still keen for Rooney to stay to add his experience to a young squad.

I’ve already said several times I’d be happy for him to leave he obviously isn’t sure what’s the right move for him and doesn’t seem very committed to Everton.

I think to be honest this one just needs to be sorted out one way or the other as soon as possible.

In other news, the Blues Gylfi Sigurdsson played for Iceland in their opening World Cup match against Argentina. He didn’t make much of an impact in a game that never really took off but Sigurdsson’s team secured a very commendable 1-1 draw at the end.
