The summer rumour mill continues to gather pace and today there is a story involving Everton making a move for Hull City winger Jarrod Bowen.
The Sun is claiming Everton boss Marco Silva is a big fan of the player having coached him briefly during his time at Hull City in 2017.
Bowen scored 15 times last season for the Tigers and won their player of the season awards for his performances.
However he doesn’t produce many assists for goals making only one last season. The 21-year-old is a direct attacking player whose best position seems to be playing on the right of midfield.
He’s strong in the air and can also contribute defensively.
So here we have another rumour linking the Blues with a talented young player from the Championship.
This follows on from the stories that Everton were also interested in Norwich and England Under-21 star James Maddison.
But those rumours have gone cold. It now appears that Everton are not going to make a move for Maddison after all.
Despite all these links the Blues have yet to make a single new addition. Meanwhile other clubs have moved quickly and decisively to strengthen. Of course there’s time left in the window and no need to panic just yet!
Everton are trying to clear out those players the new hierarchy want to move on. But as I’ve said before this process will take time and should not prevent the club making new signings if they are considered the right ones.
Talking of players who might be right for the club, one other worth looking at is Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The Chelsea player is currently with the England squad at the World Cup. He came on for the final few minutes of England’s win against Tunisia and impressed again with his pace, power and skill.
Loftus-Cheek has had a fine season on loan at Crystal Palace in 2017-18 and played a key role in helping keep the Eagles in the Premier League.

He is a powerful and versatile player who can contribute defensively as well as in attack.
His best position seems to be in playing in a central midfield role where he can get on the ball, pass and run at the opposition.
The 22-year-old is unlikely to get much of a chance in the Chelsea first team. Especially with Chelsea probably hiring yet another new overseas coach for next season.
I would prefer the Toffees to go for a player like Loftus-Cheek in midfield to William Carvalho. Although Carvalho is a good player he is primarily a defensive option.

Everton would also seem a perfect club for Loftus-Cheek. The Blues can offer regular first-team football and the chance for him to continue to develop and further his international career.
