As it seems as though Everton might lose Ademola Lookman to RB Leipzig, another young Blues forward also seems likely to make a move to another club on loan next season.

Henry Onyekuru,  signed last summer, is moving closer to a loan move from Everton to Turkish club Galatasaray next season.

Onyekuru spent last campaign on loan in Belgium with Anderlecht after Everton bought him in 2017. According to Sky Sports Galatasaray have now opened talks about taking the young Nigerian for the 2018-19 season.

Blues fans might remember the saga that surrounded the 21-year-old last season. After a decent first half to the season, early in the new year he suffered a serious knee injury. For a while it looked like he might miss the whole of the rest of the campaign.

It turned out his injury wasn’t quite as serious as first feared and he did seem able to return to the Anderlecht and Nigerian national team before the end of the season.

This was important for Everton as the club needed him to play for Nigeria at the World Cup in order to help ensure he would qualify for a work permit and could then join the Blues.

However there were stories and rumours that the Belgian side were not playing Onyekuru to prevent him getting that permit and leaving for the Toffees, something they denied.

Whatever the truth, the fact is Onyekuru didn’t get into the Nigeria squad for the World Cup. That meant he would almost certainly have to go out on loan again this coming campaign. So it now seems that he will be spending the next season in Turkey.

What does all this mean for Everton?

If the Blues do lose Lookman to Leipzig and also have to let Onyekuru go on loan again, the club will lose two talented young forwards. And as yet with no indications of other players joining to replace them.

As if to further complicate things, Sky Sports are also claiming that another Turkish club Fernabache are keen to sign winger Yannick Bolaise too.

Bolaise is one of those players that doesn’t seem to have a long-term future at Goodison Park. This  follows the decision by Marcel Brands to significantly cut squad numbers before making new signings.

It’s a frustrating situation and only makes quickly finding and signing new talent up front even more important now.
