Everton Knocked Back in Supposed Pursuit of Luke Shaw

Toffees’ left-back search to continue as Manchester United misfit rejects transfer talks
Everton have suffered another setback in their search for a new left-back after Luke Shaw rejected their advances.
The Manchester United misfit is available for transfer this summer after a poor spell with the Premier League giants.
However, the Times newspaper has claimed that the Toffees were rebuffed in their attempts to convince Shaw to move to Goodison Park.
The Blues have already walked away from a £25m move for Celtic’s Kieran Tierney over his price tag.
And now they must look for other options to replace the ageing Leighton Baines after being rejected outright by Shaw.
Everton manager Marco Silva knows that he needs to bring in a capable replacement for Baines as the latter’s career reaches its twilight phase.
A lengthy calf problem sustained by the 33-year-old led to Cuco Martina being played out of position at left-back for much of last term.
That square peg in a round hole showed that Everton don’t have ample cover for Baines should he pick up another injury again in the future.
Silva, then, had made a new player in that part of his squad a top priority this summer.
With Tierney and Shaw now out of the equation, the Portuguese boss must consider a different transfer target as he attempts to ramp up his business in the market.
Shaw has endured a sticky period at Old Trafford after a season-long lay off with a broken leg and continuing to butt heads with manager Jose Mourinho.
The England international’s future in Manchester had been called into question last season despite him returning to fitness and some semblance of form.
But Mourinho has apparently made Shaw surplus to requirements as he seeks to bring in Juventus star Alex Sandro.
Shaw’s refusal to talk to Everton means he could cause Mourinho a huge headache in deciding not to depart the Red Devils though.

Unless the 23-year-old changes his tune, both Everton and United will lose out on a promising player and a decent wedge of cash.
