Toffees Want Richarlison and Doucoure despite acrimonious relationship with Hornets

Everton are reportedly weighing up a £50m double raid on Watford for Richarlison and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

An exclusive report from Teamtalk has alleged that the Toffees want to reunite Marco Silva with two of Watford’s best performers from last term.

The claim states that the two Premier League clubs have an “indifferent relationship” following the acrimonious departure of Silva.

That’s a polite way at looking at it, and the Hornets will be absolutely steadfast in their refusal to sell either to Everton this summer.

The falling out between the two sides means that any potential deals for either party’s players are pretty much a non starter, which makes it strange that Teamtalk would link Richarlison and Doucoure with Goodison Park moves.

Both Silva and director of football Marcel Brands are big admirers of Richarlison.

The 21-year-old forward impressed during his maiden campaign in England’s top flight following an £11.5m move from Fluminense.

He bagged five goals and five assists but his form badly tailed off following Silva’s dismissal as Watford boss in January.

The duo had a close working relationship at Vicarage Road and, thanks to being able to converse in Portuguese, would no doubt rekindle that if the Brazilian was somehow sold to Everton.

Doucoure, meanwhile, played well in the heart of midfield throughout the entirety of last term.

The Frenchman won Watford’s Player of the Season award for his industrious, all-action displays.

Doucoure, 25, has eight goals and four assists from 62 Watford appearances and is capable of playing in any midfield role in the centre of the pitch.

Both players would be good signings for Everton and would arguably impress the Blues faithful under Silva’s tutelage again.

The chances of that are next to nothing though due to Watford’s anger at what they perceived as Everton tapping Silva up last November after Ronald Koeman was sacked.
