Everton Ladies launch away strip for new season in historical club move

Everton have unveiled their away kit for the 2018/19 season with the help of their Ladies team.

The Toffees took to their official Twitter account early on Thursday to show off the new strip in all its jet black glory.

The kit, manufactured by sportswear giant Umbro, is reminiscent of historical strips such as the club’s ‘Black Watch’ attire.

A 15-month collaboration between Umbro, Everton and their fanbase sought to find a new distinctive look to the club’s reverse strip.

And, after supporters unanimously backed a dark kit with flashes of colour in it, Umbro opted for what the club terms ‘a carbon coloured shirt with black sleeves and an eye-catching pink glo’.

The bright pink hue stands out against the dark aesthetic of the main kit, with the shirt, shorts and socks all boasting the same colour.

The Blues’ club crest, Umbro’s logo, shirt and sleeve sponsors Sport Pesa and Angry Birds, and the trim surrounding the shirt and shorts are all depicted in pink.

The goalkeeper strip, meanwhile, is comprised of a ‘safety yellow’ shade with a ‘shocking orange’ tint detail on the sleeves.

Key squad members of Everton Ladies – including Chloe Kelly and captain Danielle Turner – took part in a video to reveal the new kit and it seems that all the players, both male and female, are big fans of the club’s new alternative strip.

Leaked images of the new kit had done the rounds on social media in the build-up to the away strip’s official unveiling.

With a voice over from MMA star and Everton fan Molly ‘Meatball’ McCann providing a fitting backdrop to the footage, the video was inspired by the same “Go On” campaign that celebrates the dynamic between the club and home city Liverpool.

The kit will feature for the first time during the men’s pre-season friendly against FC Porto in the Algarve Cup and the ladies’ friendly encounter against Liverpool Ladies – both games taking place on Saturday.
