Watford star undergoes medical on Merseyside ahead of £40m Switch

Richarlison’s transfer from Watford to Everton is almost complete after the forward underwent a medical on Merseyside.

BBC Sport’s Greg O’Keeffe, who used to write for the Liverpool Echo as the Blues’ chief reporter, confirmed that the Brazilian was undergoing tests ahead of his £40m switch.

Richarlison was the subject of the big bid from Everton last weekend, and appears set to be reunited with former boss Marco Silva at Goodison Park.

The 21-year-old was in inspired form under the Portuguese gaffer during their time together at Vicarage Road.

He bagged five goals and four assists in six months under Silva’s tutelage before tailing off dramatically after the 41-year-old’s sacking.

A talent that both Silva and director of football Marcel Brands rate, Richarlison would be a good addition to the Toffees’ ranks.

His skill, pace, eye for goal and unrelenting work ethic would be key components of the way that Silva wants his side to play.

Richarlison would also offer competition for places in Everton’s first-team squad on the wings, and challenge the likes of Kevin Mirallas, Ademola Lookman and Theo Walcott for a starting berth.

If the ex-Fluminense wonderkid passes his medical today, he could very well make his bow for Everton in Thursday’s pre-season friendly against Blackburn Rovers.

Richarlison hasn’t suffered from any long-term injuries so, providing his fitness levels are adequate enough, there should be no issues from his medical tests.

Everton are believed to be paying around £35m up front for his signature, with various add-ons taking the eventual transfer fee up to the £40m mark.

Richarlison would be Everton’s first signing of the summer and hopefully be the first of many quality additions through the door.

Barcelona’s defensive pair Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne are also on Everton’s radar, but it remains to be seen if either will head to the Premier League with the Blues.
