Blues winger reportedly interesting Villa boss Steve Bruce as game time at Goodison looks restricted

Everton‘s Yannick Bolasie is a transfer target for Aston Villa, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The winger is thought to be out-of-favour at Goodison Park and may have to leave to earn regular first-team minutes.

Bolasie has been linked with a season-long loan move to former side Crystal Palace, as well as Championship outfit Middlesbrough.

But it is Boro’s title rivals in Villa who have become the latest name to be touted as the favourites to land the 29-year-old’s signature.

Bolasie has seen the arrival of fellow forwards Richarlison and Bernard further fuel rumours of his departure from Merseyside.

Coupled with the return of Ademola Lookman from last season’s loan spell with RB Leipzig, and the competition for places on the wing have been increased in Marco Silva’s squad.

Bolasie is still really recovering from the cruciate knee ligament injury he sustained against Manchester United just four months into his Blues’ career.

Despite being back fit for over six months, however, the DR Congo international just doesn’t seem to be the same player he was before.

His touch, pace and delivery are still naturally rusty after a lengthy spell out, but he hasn’t had a chance to prove his worth to Silva yet due to illness and knocks sustained in pre-season training.

It’s very unlikely that Bolasie will ever feature under the Portuguese boss for the time being, and a temporary switch to another club may be for the best at this stage.

Villa manager Steve Bruce could be the right man to eek out the talents that Bolasie possesses, and playing in a team that could vie for the Championship trophy would do wonders for his confidence.

The Villans have until 31st August to sign new players despite Premier League sides being unable to draft anyone new in themselves.

And if Bolasie finds that game time will be severely restricted with the Toffees this term, he may want to weigh up whether it’s worth sticking around and picking up his wages or actively going out to play football somewhere else.
