Turkish heavyweights touted as favourites to land Senegalese cult hero on loan

Everton‘s Oumar Niasse has apparently been earmarked for a transfer to Galatasaray, according to reports in Turkey.

The striker is the subject of more speculation in Eastern Europe after he was linked with a move to Turkey earlier this summer.

Turkish newspaper Gunes (via Turkish Football) has alleged that Niasse is on Galatasaray’s radar as they look to secure him before the European summer transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

Niasse, however, has been told that he is an integral part of Marco Silva’s squad moving forward and the Toffees would be daft to let him leave.

The Senegal international is battling it out with Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to be the main striker in Silva’s starting lineup.

Ironically, it is Turkey international Tosun who is currently keeping him out of the team – though Niasse did replace the 27-year-old in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Wolves from the bench.

Everton would be silly to allow Niasse to depart either permanently or on loan as it would surely deplete their forward line options significantly if he did.

That hasn’t prevented the Super Lig giants from tabling an offer for his services, though it’s unclear if this particular rumour has any concrete legs to it.

Niasse featured under Silva during the latter’s time in charge of Hull City 18 months ago, and performed well under his guidance.

It is this working relationship that is sure to keep the 28-year-old in the Premier League with the Blues for the time being.

If Niasse did surprisingly leave Goodison Park, he would join fellow Everton player Henry Onyekuru, who joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal in July.

Niasse bagged 12 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions for Everton last season after he forced his way back in from the cold under former boss Ronald Koeman.

The ex-Spartak Moscow hitman was without a shirt number or locker under the Dutchman at the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign.
