German club refusing to take ‘no’ for an answer with new bid for talented Toffees winger
Everton are continuing to fight off RB Leipzig’s interest in Ademola Lookman after the German side tabled a new £22m bid.
Lookman has been at the centre of a tug of war between the two club all summer long, with Everton refusing to sell him and Leipzig deciding not to call time on their interest in him.
A new report from the Mirror on Monday has claimed that the Blues must now bat off another offer from the Bundesliga club, who have already had two bids for Lookman rejected since July.
The European transfer window remains open until the end of August, and Everton must continue to dig their heels in for another 11 days to ensure that the 20-year-old doesn’t leave.
Leipzig, however, are not entertaining the notion of moving onto other targets as they want to bring Lookman back to Germany on a permanent deal.
Lookman enjoyed a six-month loan spell with Ralf Rangnick’s men in the second half of last season, and weighed in with five goals and four assists in 11 appearances.
That has led to player and club wanting to renew their working relationship – much to the chagrin of Everton manager Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands.
The pair have remained steadfast in their desire to keep hold of Lookman, despite the forward’s rumoured admission about wanting to depart Goodison Park.
He was dropped from the 18-man matchday squad for the 2-2 draw with Wolves on the opening day of the season, and remained an unused substitute in Saturday’s 2-1 triumph over Southampton.
Silva has gone on record to reveal that Lookman has started to knuckle down in training and reports suggested he had downed tools in an effort to force through a transfer to Leipzig.
But the Portuguese gaffer still wishes to see more from the England Under-20 World Cup winner amid competition for places on the wings.

Richarlison and Bernard are both capable of playing in Lookman’s preferred position on the left flank, but Silva is still adamant that the youngster remains part of his first-team plans.
