RB Leipzig Make Yet Another Bid for Everton’s Ademola Lookman

German club return with improved offer for forward – but Toffees are still refusing to do business
The ‘Ademola Lookman to RB Leipzig’ saga is continuing to drag on as reports suggest a £25m offer for the wantaway Everton star is incoming.
The Mirror has alleged that the Bundesliga side have sent an improved bid over to the Blues as they look to wrest the talented forward away from Goodison Park.
Leipzig’s new offer would break their club transfer record if they convinced Everton to part ways with Lookman, but the Toffees are standing firm over their refusal to sell.
The German side have been unsuccessful with three previous bids for the ex-Charlton Athletic wonderkid, but they hope that this latest offering will lead to a compromise with the Blues.
Everton are thought to want at least £28m, plus add-ons, before they would consider letting Lookman leave Merseyside.
The 20-year-old is thought to be open to joining Leipzig, who he spent the second half of last season on loan at following a lack of game time with Everton.
There were suggestions that Lookman had looked off in training sessions as he sought to force through a move, but Marco Silva is adamant that Lookman is going nowhere.
The Everton boss revealed earlier in August that Lookman had began to knuckle down in training again after he was left out of the opening day squad to face Wolves due to his poor training levels.
And while Lookman was part of the 18-man squad for last Saturday’s win over Southampton, he didn’t make it off the bench and on to the pitch.
Lookman’s situation is a strange one. The England Under-21 international is clearly a talented player and Evertonians want to see him ply his trade with their team.
However, competition for places on the wing are fierce and Lookman is likely peeved at the arrivals of Brazilian duo Richarlison and Bernard, who can also play on the left flank – Lookman’s preferred position.
It might not be surprising to see him wanting out, then, but Everton may regret letting an England starlet go, especially when Silva wants to give the club’s youngsters plenty of first-team exposure.
As long as Everton make it to 31st August – the transfer deadline for European teams outside of the Premier League – they should hold on to Lookman and, hopefully, give him matches to prove his worth and quality.
