Another frustrating result for Everton tonight as the Blues were forced to come from behind for the second game in a row at Goodison Park to get a point.
So that’s now four points Everton have let slip at home in the last two Premier League matches at the grand old lady.
The Blues will feel the better of the two sides in the end having come from 2-1 down in such late, dramatic style. That Lucas Digne free-kick saved Everton from a costly defeat and earned the Toffees a hardly deserved point.
And in truth Watford would have been good for the win had they held on and again Everton showed worrying defensive frailties in this game.
It had all started so well with Richarlison scoring against his old club with an excellent finish after good work on the right from Andre Gomes.
But it was the Hornets, rather than Everton who responded better to that goal and despite going behind they grew into the match and began to make some good chances too.
And in the second half they eventually equalised via a Seamus Coleman own-goal before then going in front just minutes later to take a 2-1 lead.
In truth Everton didn’t look like they were going to get back into it until the Blues were awarded a spot-kick. But Gylfi Sigurdsson hit it straight down the middle and Ben Foster flicked it away to safety.
So the Toffees had to wait until Digne’s superb late free-kick right at the very end of the match to claim a barely deserved share of the points this evening.
This game, following as it does the 1-1 draw against Newcastle United last Wednesday night, are providing signs of concern for Everton.
The Blues failed to kick on after the boost of that early Richarlison goal and again looked below-par and unable to find the drive and energy needed to take hold of this match.
There seems to be a continuing hangover from that hard to take derby day loss a week ago and if that’s so the Toffees need to shake it off quickly.
The home team were out-worked and out-played by their visitors who so nearly grabbed their first league win at Goodison Park.

And the Blues failed once more to take the chance to move past Manchester United and back into sixth place in the table.
Games at home against teams like Watford, with all due respect, are the types of matches that the Toffees have to win if they are to be considered one of the best six or so sides in the Premier League.
Now Everton have to go to Manchester City and try to get something from a match against the defending Premier League champions.
And Pep Guardiola’s side are likely to be smarting following that loss to Chelsea and the end of their unbeaten record, on Sunday.
