Everton put price tag on Tosun
Everton have it seems decided that Cenk Tosun is surplus to requirements at Goodison Park and have put a £20 million price tag on the Turkey international.
According to a story in the Liverpool Echo, after only a year on Merseyside, now Everton are willing to listen to offers for Tosun and allow him to leave.
This seems like the best outcome for both the player and the club. Tosun has found it a struggle to adjust to life in the Premier League and it’s clear that Marco Silva doesn’t see him as part of his plans going forward.
Since he arrived last January Tosun has found it difficult to nail down a starting place and to score the goals that Sam Allardyce paid almost £30 million for when he brought him to England from Besiktas.
With rumours that the Blues are looking once more for another striker to provide the firepower so obviously missing from the team, the Turkish forward’s time at Goodison looks as though it is coming to a close.
Everton’s willingness to sell Tosun would help provide the funds to purchase a replacement. It also fits in with the stated policy of Director of Football Marcel Brands to ensure players are sold before new ones are added.
But the Blues are looking at something like a £10 million loss at least, which is hardly a great piece of business. Let’s hope this is the last time that the Toffees will spend that kind of money only to have to move the player on after a short time and take a loss on that sale.

With the new regime in place and Brands’ appointment to the Board at Everton’s recent AGM, I imagine that greater caution will be taken over such player purchases in future.
So if Tosun leaves then who will the Toffees bring in to replace him?
The most recent speculation has centred on a move for Michy Batshuayi in this transfer window.
But Batshuayi would also be a gamble, although a much more reasonable one given the fee being quoted.
