As the new working week begins it’s been suggested Everton are looking at a midfielder the club was previously linked with, and another new striker.

These stories are going to continue all month and today’s concern a midfielder Everton were supposedly interested in recently.

And the other paper rumour concerns a striker who apparently isn’t particularity enthusiastic about joining the Blues!

The first player is the Lyon star Tanguy NDombele. The French midfielder is a highly rated player who is on the radar of several top clubs in Europe. Everton are being linked with a move for the player too.

The Daily Star claim that NDombele will cost an absurd £75 million. That would surely price out Everton. But the paper says that the Toffees might part-finance the deal by selling Idrissa Gueye to PSG in the summer.

NDombele is a good quality player. But I think there are more affordable alternatives if the Blues are looking for a replacement for Gueye alongside Gomes or other existing midfielders.

For example one of NDombele’s team mates Houssem Aouar, is a fine young midfielder who offers nearly the same qualities as NDombele. He is a strong all-round player who actually has scored and created more goals than his more celebrated team-mate.

And if clubs like Manchester City are targeting him, then the Toffees will almost certainly lose out in any transfer battle, even if they were prepared to meet the asking price.

The other player is a striker playing in Spain for Espanyol; Borja Iglesias. This one has come from Marca, the Spanish paper who say that the Blues have met the player’s asking price. But Marca claim he doesn’t want to make the move.

To be honest if this story has any legs to it and that’s his real attitude I’d say fine move on. Any player who rejects the chance to play for this great club definitely isn’t worth the bother.
