Reports in the media today seem to indicate that Everton are moving a step closer to selling midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye to PSG.
This story has been bubbling along for several days now and these articles in both the UK and French media point to a possible deal being done between Everton and the Paris club before the end of the current transfer window.
The fee being quoted is around £40 million. We’ve covered this on going rumour previously and I’ve said that for me a deal at that sort of price would represent a pretty good deal for the Blues given that the club paid about £7 million for him when he joined from Aston Villa in 2016.
The 29-year-old Senegal international has been a very solid and usually reliable performer for Everton since he arrived at Goodison Park.
However he’s had an inconsistent season this term, although he’s not the only one! And with recent news that the Toffees are not going to buy this month without selling, it seems a deal like this is the only way Everton will be able to afford to strengthen in other areas.

That sort of amount is the minimum amount that the Blues will need to have any chance of getting a good quality forward. Even then it will be very difficult to find and attract that player.
As if to take advantage of the struggles Marco Silva is having at Goodison, former boss Sam Allardyce has waded in to say that he actually wanted to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubamuyang when he was manager of Everton.
Of course the former Borussia Dortmund striker went to Arsenal for over £50 million on deadline day last January. He has since proved to be a very good addition to Arsenal’s team this season.
Whether there is any truth in that statement from Allardyce, the Toffees will really need to comb the transfer market and work hard if they are to find a player of similar quality at that sort of price.
