3. Tyler Adams

Like your central midfielders young, fast, committed and intelligent? Well then, look no further than RB Leipzig’s American sensation, Tyler Adams.

OK, so Adams has only been at the German side since January, switching from Leipzig’s sister club in MLS, New York Red Bulls, for just £2.25m. At just 20-years-old, though, his longevity will make whatever fee you’d need to pay well worth it.

During his short spell in Germany, the nine-time USMNT international has already shot up to second at the club for attempted tackles per 90 minutes (5.3), while he has made 2.7 interceptions per 90 minutes – no Leipzig player beats him in this regard.

So, we know he can defend, but what about his chops on the ball? After all, that’s the biggest criticism levelled at Gueye by Evertonians.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

Well, Adams absolutely bosses it in that department as well. During his time with NYRB last season, the midfielder played 1129 accurate short passes in MLS, the second-highest at the club, as well as notching four assists – impressive for a primarily defensive midfielder.

NYRB manager, Chris Armas, opts for one of the most defined, attacking styles of play in MLS right now, so Adams’ ability to fit into his system should not be ignored.

During his first two games in the Bundesliga, Adams also attempted seven dribbles, completing six of them and showing that he truly is an all-rounder: lung-busting in the press, tough in the tackle, adept in ball-carrying and smart with his passing.

Next. Everton need to win away again. dark

Again, his recent arrival at Leipzig would bump up the price of any potential deal, but Adams would likely jump at the chance to move to the Premier League, while his incredibly young age and versatility fits the Marcel Brands model perfectly.
