There are strong rumours that Everton are tracking several high-profile strikers as the Blues transfer plans take shape.
As the summer transfer window moves closer Everton are being linked with moves for several Premier League strikers.
Stories in the Sun and on Sky Sports are saying the Blues will make consider signing Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson or Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The Sun’s story also intimates that Everton will have to sell Idrissa Gueye to help finance the move for Wilson. As Blues fans will know Gueye was heavily linked with a move to PSG in January.
Wilson has just finished a fine season with Bournemouth. The 27-year-old England forward has scored 14 goals and contributed 9 assists as well in this past Premier League season.
He is a player who certainly caught the eye of many last season, including England manager Gareth Southgate.
Wilson’s strengths are his pace, goal scoring and creativity. However Wilson is perhaps not the best at holding the ball up and acting as a focal point for the attack, something that Everton’s attack as it currently is, seems to need.
Bournemouth’s approach is more counter-attacking and less based on the kind of high-intensity pressing that the Toffees use.
Current starting centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s most important contribution is his ability to provide that focal point, holding up the ball and bringing others into the attack.
So although Wilson is undoubtedly a good player, I’m not sure he would be the ideal fit.

What about Mitrovic? The Serbian striker has been without doubt Fulham’s best player in what was a difficult season for the west London club.
He is a very strong all-round forward with an excellent goal-scoring record given the relative lack of opportunities he had at Craven Cottage.
In addition Mitrovic is strong in the air and good at bringing others into the attack. And he had an excellent shots-per-game record last season managing 3.5 per game.
Given all this I think that Mitrovic is a much better fit for Everton’s attack. He is actually quite a similar player to Calvert-Lewin but perhaps with better goal-scoring ability at the moment.
