The past few days have seen further stories linking Everton with a re-newed interest in the Brazil striker Malcom amid reports of a possible move for  Uruguayan Maxi Gomez, while David Neres says he wants to stay at Ajax.

It’s been a busy few days as regards stories about Everton and moves for another forward. French media claim the Blues will re-new their interest in Barcelona’s Malcom. This comes as his fellow Brazilian the Ajax forward Neres, another possible target, says he wants to stay in Holland.

And Everton were also briefly linked with the pursuit of Maxi Gomez although that seemed highly speculative and anyway West Ham seem to be in the driving seat in that one.

The French website says the Toffees are prepared to offer Barcelona around 35 million euros for the 22-year-old forward who has failed to nail down a regular role in the team.

Given the Blues strong links these days with the La Liga giants, it seems possible that such a story might indeed have some traction. After all before Marcel Brands arrival last summer very few Evertonians would have expected the club to have landed three Barca players in that window.

And although Yerry Mina still has much to prove, Andre Gomes proved a success and has now made his loan permanent, while Lucas Digne was a revelation at left-back and for my money was the Toffees’ player of the season, without a doubt.

So there might be a real possibility that Malcom will make the transition to Goodison Park and join his countrymen; Bernard and Richarlison in the famous royal blue shirt.

Talking of shirts I’m not overly impressed with the Blues new home shirt design, to be honest I’d like to see something a bit more traditional, simple and for me, unfussy.

My own personal favourite was the Le Coq Sportif shirt design from the famous 1984-85 season. Not just because of course it was Everton’s greatest ever season but also I feel the polo/V-neck combo design was really iconic.

Anyway it’s not that important really and if the Blues win a trophy next season in the new shirt no one will care either way!
