The transfer rumours are now coming thick and fast with Everton now linked by Sky Sports with a concrete bid for the Juventus youngster Moise Kean.

Everton have been associated with a possible move for the Italian striker for some time and now have apparently put a £36 million bid on the table.

Sky claim that the Blues are now in talks to secure the 19-year-old’s signature but that Juventus want to insert a buy-back clause, which would be similar to what happened when Everton signed Yerry Mina from Barcelona last summer.

So it seems as though the Toffees are trying to up the pace on their recruitment as the countdown to the end of the transfer window continues.

This move comes as Everton are also claimed to be in talks with Crystal Palace to sign winger Wilfried Zaha and have made a £55-60 million bid for him.

If all this transfer talk is correct then the Blues really are looking to splash the cash at the moment, preparing to part with the better part of £100 million on these two players.

This apparent U-turn in transfer policy seems to be driven by a growing concern that the Toffees might miss out on the types of players they need, whilst also seeing a number of players leave.

It does seem as though the Blues have struggled to secure their priority targets and this could indicate how difficult it is for a club in Everton’s position to persuade the best young players to join.

This situation is underlined by a piece in the Liverpool Echo. Manager Marco Silva is quoted in the paper saying he might need five new signings before the window closes.

Silva wants reinforcements at right-back, centre-back and in midfield if Idrissa Gueye does leave for PSG, as appears likely. While the club also desperately need to sort out who will start upfront, especially with the departure of Ademola Lookman for RB Leipzig.

Getting all this business done before the transfer deadline on 8th August, seems like a tall order. Although I would also like to see another right-back I think that’s the one area of the team that can cope without another signing.

The priority has to be at centre-back, central midfield and upfront. The lack of a recognised goal scorer has been underlined by a very indifferent pre-season, in which Everton have really struggled to find the back of the net.

Once again things seem very unsettled in the team with the new season only days away.

Of course last summer the pre-season was very disappointing and despite that the Toffees actually started the season proper, reasonably well.

But although it’s not time to panic just yet, I don’t think as I’ve previously said, it will be good again if the Blues end up taking their transfers down to the wire of the deadline day. This will mean there will be very little time to ensure a settled side before the new season kicks off, again.
