Stories have linked Everton with a move for the Monaco and France right-back Djibril Sidebe as the Blues move to fill in the remaining positions they want to strengthen before the transfer window closes.

Sidibe might be coming to Goodison Park as the latest addition by Everton in this summer transfer window.

The deal could be a loan deal with an option to buy next summer, rather like of course Andre Gomes last season.

The 27-year-old Frenchman has won a number of caps for France and was part of his country’s World Cup winning squad last summer.

Sidibe looks like a good potential signing. He is strong defensively and can also offer plenty going forward.

I think based on these qualities he would give Everton what they need on the right hand side of defence and would join his fellow countryman Lucas Digne in the Toffees defence.

If he is half as good a signing as Digne, who was outstanding last season, then the Blues will have another fine player on their hands. Although he might not come straight into the team.

Seamus Coleman has proved one of the steals of the past few decades in the Premier League having cost Everton just £60,000, a fact our fans never tire of reminding opponents!

But recent seasons have seen him suffer several major injuries and although he came back strongly at the back-end of the last campaign, he’s not the player he was.

So Sidibe would represent a potentially excellent replacement for him. We wait to see if this one happens in time.

Meanwhile the Wilfried Zaha saga rumbles on with The Sun now saying the Blues are prepared to offer £100 million package to try to push through a deal before Thursday afternoon.

This follows from yesterday’s rumours in the Independent that we covered in which the Crystal Palace player expects to join Everton.

This offer includes £65 million or so in cash and again two players; Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy who were allegedly offered before.

Meanwhile the media claim that Palace are on the verge of sealing a deal for McCarthy independently of any Zaha deal!

This is all getting really confusing. Everton of course denied making a second cash plus players bid only last week, but now apparently, according to the Sun, that offer is back on the table.

All this could just be idle paper rumours yet again but this story does refuse to die and I suspect it’s one that might continue right up until the end of Thursday’s 5pm deadline.
