Following a long and protracted saga Henry Onyekuru has been sold to Monaco after failing to make a single Premier League appearance for Everton.

This outcome is probably the best for both Everton and the player himself but it is to be regretted that Blues fans never had a chance to see the Nigerian international in action.

Ever since he signed, there were endless problems and uncertainties over his work permit and whether he had played enough times for his country and would therefore qualify to move to England and Premier League.

After he joined the Blues, he two seasons spent on loan first in Belgium and then in Turkey while Everton tried to sort out the work permit problems.

Given the lack of reliable goal scorers at Goodison Park, Onyekuru might have been able to contribute something to the Toffees anaemic attack. But it wasn’t to be and now he has moved permanently to another club.

Onyekuru has joined the French side Monaco from whom Everton acquired new right-back Djibril Sidibe just before the transfer window closed.

There might be other players leaving before the close of the European transfer window later this month.

One of those might have been Morgan Schniederlin, although after his red card on Saturday other clubs might not be quite so keen to take him now.

However given the recent injury to Fabian Delph and Andre Gomes going off hurt against Crystal Palace, the Toffees might still need Schneiderlin, despite his poor disciplinary record.

Another player would be Turkish striker Cenk Tosun, who it seems Everton have been trying to offload for quite a while.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

In yet another story center on a player who no longer has a future at the Blues, it’s being reported on some sites that Yannick Bolasie might be moving north of the border.

Celtic are apparently considering a move for the out of favour winger who has barely played for the Toffees in several seasons and has been almost forgotten.

This process is difficult but necessary to clear out those players who have obviously got no future at the club and are costing an awful lot in wages.
