Well surprise, surprise Everton still haven’t made a decision on Marco Silva and it now looks likely he will be in charge for the game against Leicester City at the Kingpower Stadium on Sunday.

It is typical of Everton that rather than act decisively, they have decided to put off making a decision about Silva’s future and wait once more for yet another game, before swinging the seemingly inevitable axe.

You half suspect that if by some miracle Silva were to get a result this weekend, they might still be tempted to shelve making that decision altogether!

More likely, I’m willing to bet that if the Blues get thumped on Sunday, which I think is very probable, then the new man will be coming in just in time for the derby against run-away league leaders Liverpool three days later. That’s great preparation for such a big game isn’t it?

imagine if it was Rafa Benitez, that would certainly be interesting wouldn’t it!? I personally wouldn’t care if he was wearing a Liverpool kit on the touchline if he was in the job and winning games for the Toffees!!

The wider point is that the Blues board seem to be inhibited by extreme caution and lack of conviction, while the team itself appears to be sliding inexorably towards relegation. Meanwhile the lack of communication from the club is deafening and leaves us all none the wiser.

It can’t be good for fragile team morale to have such lack of certainly hanging over them all while they try to concentrate and prepare for the trip to Leicester.

David Moyes still appears to be the front-runner, but it may be that they are not completely convinced he’s the right man and are trying to buy more time while they cast around for other candidates.

This honestly reeks of a lack of planning once more, and seems to indicate that they haven’t settled on a certain shortlist yet, despite the amount of time they’ve had to do so.

Or perhaps, and let’s be wildly and absurdly optimistic for a moment, they are locked in negotiations with a top coach like Benitez and just need a few more days to seal a deal..!
