Arsenal have become the latest London club to sack their manager as Unai Emery departs the Emirates Stadium, meanwhile Everton continue to dither over the future of Marco Silva.

It almost seems sometimes that ever other club in the Premier League will have moved their manager on before Everton finally pull the trigger on Silva! West Ham look likely to be the next club from the capital to fire their coach, with Manuel Pellegrini under real pressure.

Arsenal’s recent results have been under-par, but they have hardly been in the same league as the Blues catastrophic performances in past weeks.

Yet just as north London rivals Tottenham did recently, the Gunners have moved quickly to deal with a potentially toxic situation as Arsenal fans have been increasingly vocal in their dissatisfaction with Emery.

Evertonians have been just as vocal in recent days following the disastrous result against Norwich City last Saturday. That performance tipped the balance for many Toffees fans and I don’t see how Silva can continue for any length of time, given results and the fans response.

Yet despite that, the Everton board continue to waste time giving Silva yet another game, Sunday’s match at Leicester City, to ‘prove’ he can turn things around. No one also knows whether he will stay on for the derby at Anfield the following Wednesday, whatever the result at Leicester.

Now Arsenal will be another wealthy Premier League club in the market for the limited number of candidates who might be available. The initial rumours have linked Arsenal with a move for the Italian coach Massimo Allegri.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

Allegri was never considered a realistic option for the Blues, but he is the kind of high-profile coach that the Toffees should surely be looking to try to attract to Goodison Park.

At any rate, Arsenal are going to move quickly I would think to find a quality replacement, again unlike Everton.

It’s very frustrating to see how other clubs are ready and willing to make decisions and seek to turn around their fortunes, while Everton dither. They might not get it right, and indeed there is obviously no guarantee that replacing your manager will always work, but it does show a willingness to make a decision quickly.

In these circumstances there is very little else a club can do and when it’s so obvious, as it is in Everton’s case, that the manager is failing to deliver, you simply have to act.  Yet still we wait…
