Well it almost happened, Everton nearly got a decent result at Leicester City but in the end they were eventually defeated 2-1 by a very late winning goal.

I said in my match preview, I wouldn’t be surprised if Everton had got something from the match. Had the Blues won, it would probably have given the board another excuse not to sack Marco Silva. Now the question that we’ve all been asking this week returns once again. When, or indeed are, they going to finally act and replace him?

Everton had begun with three at the back and started the game brightly and they were worth their lead when Richarlison produced one of his trademark bullet headers. The Blues players were at least putting in a shift and giving more effort and energy than they had shown when the side so meekly surrendered to Norwich City last weekend at Goodison Park.

But the Toffees couldn’t hold onto their lead and Leicester were level in the second half and then created several good chances to win it before the dramatic ending.

Everton were not now as effective as the match wore on and became increasingly lacklustre and defensive while Leicester dominated possession and made most of the running.

And so inevitably, the Foxes finally scored again with seconds left in the game. The flag was up for offside but after a VAR review the decision, rightly this time, went Leicester’s way.

It is fitting given what has happened this season, the Toffees also had the match decided by another VAR incident, which led to the Foxes winning goal.

So another damaging defeat, the Blues are firmly lodged in the bottom half of the Premier League and now face a Merseyside derby against the league leaders in just three days.

Despite the fact that Everton were considerably improved in performance, they have lost yet another game and are facing a massive battle to get anything from their upcoming fixtures during this month.

The truth is that Silva is not the man for the job for me and his and the players reactions after  Vardy’s goal was worryingly flat and lethargic. The club really have to get a grip of this soon as going from game to game without any clear idea of what is happening, simply cannot be conclusive to a successful team on the pitch.
